Strength & Triumph 2000 Elite Terriers Capture EHF Tourney Nothing has come easy this season for the 2000 Elite Boston Jr. Terriers. Seven losses by a goal. Three more by two goals. All of which helped contribute to a 0-for-October for the 2000s and a place in the EHF standings unfamiliar: near the bottom looking up. Through it all, however, our team has kept a positive attitude and a fighting spirit. And no one embodies that spirit more than our fast-skating, hard-nosed center Bryan Tierney. As we prepared for the annual President’s Day EHF Tourney, our fortunes had turned, having won three of four, with the lone loss a 1-0 heartbreaker to the Jr. Eagles, the No. 9-rated team in the country. And then the 2000 Terriers family suffered the most devastating loss imaginable. On the Tuesday before the Friday night opening game of the tourney, Traci Tierney, Bryan’s mom and the quintessential Hockey Mom, suffered a heart attack and was placed into a medically-induced coma. About 12:30 Friday afternoon, game day, I received the terrible news. Dad Joe Tierney’s sister Donna called to let me know that despite all the doctors’ best efforts and all of our prayers, Traci was not going to survive. Disbelief. Shock. Anger. Sadness. Every emotion you can imagine. CLick here to read complete story...
